The
Hotel Belmar has an excellent location if you want to
experience Old Mazatlán. It is in Olas Altas Boulevard across from a rocky
picturesque beach. The Belmar is a stroll away from the city center providing a
tranquil setting for walking, shopping, or just sitting quietly in one of the
shaded plazas. At the Machado plaza, next to Angela Peralta Theatre, you can
have a beer, lunch or dinner in restaurants like Cafe Pacifico, Pedro & Lola, El
Túnel (Mexican Food), etc. while enjoying a quiet afternoon. The historic center
is the home for the great majority of the city's cultural activities.
In Old
Mazatlán you will also find both the art and archaeological museum | |
|
The Olas Altas section of the city,
where the Hotel Belmar is located, has many restored 19th century
buildings. The Plaza Revolución, the city's main square,
surrounded by palm trees and colonial-style buildings. In the center is
one of Mexico's most bizarre gazebos: it looks like a 50's diner on the
inside with a wrought iron bandstand on top. Facing the square is
Mazatlán's beautiful Cathedral. Begun in 1856 and completed in 1899, this
Moorish-style church has twin blue and gold spires and a gilded ornate
triple altar. All within a 10 minute walking distance
from the Hotel. |

Join us for Carnaval!
The Mazatlán carnival has been going since 1898, and is still in full
swing these days. This is the best time to come to Mazatlán (Feb.15th
thru 20th 2007). Be sure to make your reservations well in advance,
because you will find that the Hotel and most flights are booked well in
advance. The carnaval in Mazatlán is the second largest in Latin America,
behind the spectacle in Rio. The festivities get into high gear on the
Friday before Ash Wednesday, and end on Ash Wednesday. They include
parties and parades, complete with floats and a carnival queen. Mexicans
take their beauty contests very seriously.
The Hotel is located in within the carnaval zone.
